Hi, how long do you think the 7th generation consoles will live? Another few years, more than a few years, at least until 2012? What is your opinion on this topic? What might cause each system's downfall? Lack of fun games, out-dated technology, decline in sales? Please post your reasons and support your answer. Thanks.
P.S. This is just a random question asked out of pure curiosity. Sorry, what I meant was in terms of each individual console, not all systems as a whole. Sorry for the confusion... |

Well depends on the manufacturer, Microsoft would like you to believe that a console's lifespan is about 4-5 years tops, they want you're money again at that time for another console. Sony, however believes that the console's lifecycle is closer to 7-10 years, and especially for their PS3.
In fact take a look at how long it was going from last gen to current gen, xbox lasted about 4 years, maybe 5. PS2, is on 7 years and still selling. Depends on the manufacturer. Not sure exactly what Nintendo's take is on this, but I can't imagine they think they're going to get more than 4-5 years out of the Wii. |
