I'm getting the nintendo wii for my kids for christmas. I'm so confused about what to get with it. There is so many accessories that go with it. Will I be able to hook it up right out of the box or do I need to purchase separate wires for it.

ALL of the cables will be supplied in the Wii box. :]
So when you get the Wii, there will be the cables in there, and you can hook them up to your TV and start playing right away. There's also one wii-mote and one nun-chuk which is good enough. Everything is ready for you, except the games, as they are sold seperately. Just make sure they don't let get of the wii-mote, as it's possible it could go flying from the hands and into the TV screen. Then you'll have to buy a new TV. Good luck! |

All the wires are supplied within the main console box.
From you question it sounds like you have multiple children, if so then I would definitely suggest buying at least one extra Wii Remote and Nun-chuck (the two items that you use for controllers). If you don't I'm sure many arguments will come from your children, wanting to play at the same time. I also suggest getting Rayman Raving Rabids as a first buy, it has quite a few mini games that aren't too hard until you get farther into the game. My Sims is also a good one although it is only 1 player. It does come with Wii sports though so if you aren't sure what game you want you can always wait and just play sports. That still keeps me playing 13 months later! Hope you enjoy the Wii, I'm sure you will be play it quite a bit yourself! |

If you have an HDTV, then you should buy Wii Component Cables. If you just have a regular TV, then you're good to go with what comes in the box.
Now, what to get in terms of accessories: Games: Wii Play, which comes with an extra Wiimote controller. Cooking Mama: Cook Off MySims Wii Boogie Super Mario Galaxy (Comes out Nov. 12) (If your kids are older than 10) Metroid Prime 3 and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Accessories: The Wii comes with one Wiimote and one Nunchuk. Depending on how many people are in your family, you'll want to get each of them a Wiimote (but remember, Wii Play comes with a Wiimote) and a Nunchuk. You'll also want an SD card to save stuff on. They sell them just for the Wii, but most regular ones (those without a Wii logo on them) work too. If you have wireless internet in your house, you'll also want to hook your Wii up to the internet. It connects to the internet wirelessly, but if your network isn't wireless, you'll need to buy that sort of cable. Once your Wii is on the internet, you should buy Wii points (cards at stores with codes on them, similar to iTunes cards), so that you can buy old Nintendo games from the virtual console and buy the Internet Channel, which is an Opera Browser made for the Wii. If you decide to download games from the Virtual Console, you'll need a Classic Controller for each player. I hope that I have helped - please email me if you have any questions.
