I have a game called Super Paper Mario (SPM), which recently stopped working. I know that the problem is with the game disk and not the Wii because my other 2 games still work fine. Its the only game I have which is used, with the sticker saying it was returned November 2009, although no doubt owned before then.
I got this game a little over a year ago... and it worked perfectly fine! Me and my sister each went through 90% of story mode together, with no glitches, freezes, power outages, unplugs, etc. We then went on hiatus for the game for almost a year, where it has been safely and snuggly tucked away in its case, kept in an environment equal to our other games. When we tried running it yesterday, the following happened: I had Brawl in (still works fine!), pressed eject, took the game out, placed in SPM, clicked reset, and it said it couldn't be read. (My sister says this method of inserting the game which we usually don't do might have been the cause, although I disagree.) I turned it off, re-entered it, and the logo appears on the Wii home page. After clicking it, it allows you to press START. It then shows the Wii remote "use it properly" screen, and then it says again that the game disk cannot be read. Upon inspection, it seems to only have a little demi-scratch marks, but NOT anything noticeable from far away. I tried cleaning it with tissue and cloth twice, and a little bit of warm water once. No avail. My Nintendo Wii is less than a year and a half old. IT IS NOT ONE OF THE OLDER VERSIONS which people say need their lens cleaned, etc. Buying a disc repair kit or using toothpaste is something I don't want to do unless if I feel I utterly have to. We also don't want to buy a new game, because of all the fun we had on our old files. Thanks if you guys can help any. ![]() |

I have the same problem with my call of duty world at war game. here what i did to fix it.
1: inspect the disk for any sever scratches. 2: once found, put ur disk under the sink faucet and turn the cold water on all the way ( seriously!!!) 3: wait for about 5 minutes and take it out from under. 4: grab a cotton swab or that ear cleaning thingy with the cotton on each end. 5: slowly go left and right on the scratch. NOT IN A CIrCULAR MOTION. this will only make the scratches worse. 6: dry it off and wait for about 10 minutes b4 putting it back in. this worked as soon as i put it in and mine is in a worse condition than urs and my wii is older. |

1. If you have to buy a new game the Save file will still be on your Wii. You will be able to to start where you left off on using the New Disc.
2. I assume you were made you weren't cleaning it the disc in a circular motion ( just straight lines from the center to the edge of the disc). Since Super Paper Mario isn't one of the games that A lot of people have been having trouble playing I would suggest calling Nintendo. They have a Disc Replacement policy but that's within 90 days of purchase. I would just call them and see what they suggest. If you want to try cleaning your game again you can try following this directions from nintendo :http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/ts/gameDiscClean.jsp Or here's there number 1-800-255-3700 |
